“I am excited to be exhibiting my artwork back here at the Wisbech Museum some 40 years after my last shows here in the 1980’s. “Country Days” will feature eleven major paintings-all completed since 2011-that span the fifty years I have spent living and working in the Fens, including the 5’ x 4’ painting “Love Lane”-the church of St.Peter’s & St Paul’s-next to the Museum. Also the popular “The Big Butterfly Watch”- which the Butterfly Conservation organisation are using to promote the count.
This selection of Artwork - taken from over 400 pieces I have produced since 2009 - concerns my first experience of moving to the Fens in “2 Culture’s Clash” & “Snowdrift”. Holidaying with my brother in “Tent”. Moving into the town in “Love Lane” and ”Twilight Time”, then back out to country days again in a village outside of town in “When I Was A Boy and Now That I Am A Man” / “Marmite Man”/ “Man In A Shed” / “Owls” and ”The Big Butterfly Watch”. The final long, triptych shows concern for the impact man is having on the environment - including that of the countryside -in “The Lone Tree”.
The artwork is big, bold and detailed with vivid, striking colours and is by turns both autobiographical and intriguing. This show represents a rare chance to see artwork that has never been seen in public before. Please see my Facebook page for hundreds of examples of my art from across the years.”
